Heartattack #40
Without a doubt one of the best bands going in southern california. Scarred For Life cranks out sonic d-beat/scandinavian hardcore punk set at a flailing intensity. Each song exploded with fury and a dual guitar attack to pin the casual listener to the wall. Seven salvos against war, the state and all its
trappings. Would be a wise decision to pick this up.

Slug and Lettuce, autumn 2003
Fast metallic crust from the mean streets of Los Angeles. Ripping solos, dive-bomb guitars and spitefull political lyrics set to music that brings to mind early 1990's bands like Brutally Familiar or pre-industrial Nausea. Lighting fast, great riffs and vocals that that aggressively fuel this system fighting machine. Executed to near perfection, and i should mention the solos again, because there are a
lot of them...and because they are all great. Punks have been scared to shred for far too long.

Profane Existence #43 summer-fall 2003
-Dbeat punk rock hailing from Long Beach, Ca. Featuring members of Kontraklasse, Dystopia,Glycine Max. Fans of Detestaion, Resist, Discharge will dig this record. D-Beat Punk rich to the extreme.(Brian)

-These guys sent this to Vile Dominion, but i thought i'd do em one better and give them a shout out on the sacred pages of Profane Existence (haw haw). I
thought this band had cashed it in a while back but i guess i was wrong. Very fast and hard punk rock that keeps in the West Coast fastcore tradition of killer
bands like Subvert and Final Conflict. Excellent lyrics and a cool cover make this one a keeper. Rockin stuff for sure.(Doug)

Suburban Voice #46 Summer 2003
-If the right-wing morons who have been chastising the Dixie Chicks for thier anti-Bush statements saw the cover image or lyrics for this record, they'd really have something to whine about. Songs of protest against the current state of affairs and delivered with a ravaging onslaught. Scarred For Life have been around for a while (and their guitarist Clyde played in the Pig Children in the 80's) and they continue to dish out the hard/fast thrashy hardcore with a Discharge-meets-crust influence.

Maximum Rock n Roll Feb. 2001 Issue #213: - Far From Home EP "Former members of PIG CHILDREN, DOGMA MUNDISTA, AND GLYCINE MAX pull out the stops and do wall of noise punk circa any of the UK greats. Simple (repetitive) structures, short songs and charismatic delivery--you pick up on it quickly, and it's immediately memorable. They do a BATTALION OF SAINTS cover as well-and pull it off well. I especially liked songs like 'Master Race Control' where the speed is carried throughout and the song is kept short--but it certainly doesn't drag anywhere. Good stuff. This is apparently a European tour release, so not sure how available it is over here--best move quick! (T.M.)"

Maximum Rock n Roll Sept. 1999 vol. 196:  "The title had me thinking of the non to shabby 'Birth, School, Work, Death' LP by the Godfathers. A few seconds of listening dispel any comparisons to the curled-lip rock (no roll) of that band. Hey, where am I? Ok, this band is made up of ex-members of Southern Californian bands who have been fine tuning the politically saturated, verse chorus guitar pummel of DISCHARGE and FINAL CONFLICT long enough to know what makes for a solid sounding album. Love the Scandi-style guitar leads and the (regardless of what the mature farts say) always-relevant anti-war anthems. (T.H.)"

LIVE vol. 5 Issue 98:  "This is punk rawk (emphasis on "raw") in a form that strays from the overdone norm in an important way. Listen to the lyrics, and, if you cannot quite pick them up, then read them! You will find social messages with actual validity. To top it off, the music is fully fast and tight with nuances that make each song an individual. Eleven quick tracks combined with some entertaining live radio station humor make this CD one beautiful piece of ass. I'd continue gushing, but my editor would give me shit! - M  Rating Oh so O"  O=Orgasmic (as good as life gets)

Hit List vol. 1 #5:  "Old school sounding political hardcore punk from all places, Los Angeles. These guys sound like they've been around the block a few times. Good release! (AD)"

Suburban Voice #43 PO Box 2746 Lynn, MA. 01903-2746:  "Raging early 80's style hardcore with a UK bent, as well as some metal guitar touches that don't detract too much. Clyde and Mike, the guitarist and bass-player respectively, played in Pig Children, who put out a kick ass album called "Blood For Sale" in the mid-80's and it's good to see them still around and ripping it up. Pissed-off songs with a healthy amount of velocity and bile. Ray Gunn may not have the most original name in the world, but he effectively conveys the venom with his hoarse vocals. Not a pop song in sight." * note: actually it was "Blood For The State", and Mike K. has since been replaced with Mike R.

The Olive Branch Zine #4 p.o.b. 814, Dundee Il. 60118-0814:  "Scarred For Life is an old school hardcore style band from the Long Beach, CA. area. They include chanting vocals and screaming craziness. The music was fast, hard, and included some off the wall zany guitar solos. For the most part, they were pretty tight. They come off as a bunch of tough guys throughout the cd. It was good, but I wouldn't mess with them on the streets." (JB)
