After waiting for what seemed like forever, I finally got my ass down to Project Walk in Carlsbad today. It was my first day there but they didn't take it easy on me in spite of it. Right now I feel like I got my ass kicked. They had me doing stuff today that I didn't know I could do. I moved my legs, I did sit ups and I did some squats on an upright load bearing machine. They had to assist me with all of this by pulling my arms and pushing my legs and basically throwin me around, but I can tell right now after a few more months of this I'll be able to do most of this shit on my own. The place is fuckin awesome! I met several people there who have the same injury as me (C5/C6) in various stages of recovery. Some are just starting out stretching like me, some were on exercise bicycles, some were crawling around on the floor and some were walking. Looking at every one of them, just motivated the shit out of me. It was a far cry from Loma Linda Rehab where they took a half ass approach to get me better. The therapists and nurses were great at Loma Linda but the doctors can suck my ass! My main doctor told me not even to waste my time at Project Walk because they were a scam and wouldn't help me. That only motivated me more and now I can't wait for the day that I can WALK back into his office and give him a good stiff kick to the sack, the negative shit fuck that he is. Anyway these guys got a totally different attitude and are helping me recover in more ways than I could have imagined. I would highly recommend this place to anyone with a spinal cord injury.
If any of you are interested or know someone who would be the url is www.projectwalk.org http://www.projectwalk.org
There is all kinds of info on what they do down there and general information about spinal cord injuries. So life is good right now for me and only gonna get better from here on. Thank you all again for your support and I'll keep you updated with my progress.
Right now I'm gonna go pass out!
